Iranian Red Crescent offers aid to Gaza

Iran’s Red Crescent sends a letter to the Palestinian Red Crescent offering humanitarian aid to the beleaguered Gaza Strip.

In the letter, sent Sunday, the Iranian aid organization reportedly offers medical supplies and other equipment.

It is unclear how such aid would reach Gaza. Turkey has sent aid to Gaza, but had to coordinate with Israel in order to get it through the Kerem Shalom crossing. With Egypt’s border with Gaza shuttered and Iran unwilling to coordinate with Israel, Iranian aid offers to Gaza may be more theoretical than real.

The Iranian regime, which considers Israel a bitter enemy, has repeatedly condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza since the start of Operation Protective Edge on July 8.
