Israel will not release two detained Palestinian medical officials as part of the Gaza ceasefire-hostage release agreement, a source from the Hamas terror group tells CNN.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician detained last year, and Dr. Marwan al-Hams, the Hamas-appointed director of field hospitals in Gaza, detained in July, will not be released from Israeli custody.

Israel detained Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, along with nearly 240 others during a raid on the medical facility in December 2024, alleging that Hamas was using it as a command center.

The military said it suspected Abu Safiya of being a member of Hamas.
