Jordan pans Israeli ‘aggression’ in Gaza, warns of ‘provocations’ at Temple Mount

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi condemns Israel’s operation in Gaza as an “aggression,” tweeting that he has discussed the matter with UN Mideast envoy Tor Wennesland.
Discussed efforts to stop Israeli aggression on #Gaza with UN envoy @TWennesland. We condemn this aggression & urge effective Int’l effort to stop it, end escalation & provide protection to Gazans. Escalation will only lead to more vicious violence that will hurt all all. 1/2

He also stresses that Israeli “provocations” should be prevented at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount tomorrow, as Jews mark Tisha B’Av, which commemorates the destruction of the temples believed to have stood at the site.
Also stressed to UN envoy @TWennesland urgency of preventing any Israeli provocations at #AlAqsa tomorrow to avoid further escalation. Historical & legal status quo must be respected. Ending escalation & restoring calm must be a global priority. It is in the interest of all 2/2
