Samir Basharat, mayor of the Palestinian town of Tammun in the Jordan Valley, has been arrested in the Israeli military operation in the northern West Bank, Palestinian media reports.

Meanwhile, the Palestine Red Crescent Society says its medics have tended to 10 people wounded amid the operation that began last night. Four of those people were taken to a hospital, the Red Crescent says.

The group accuses Israeli security forces of preventing medical personnel from reaching Tammun and nearby Tubas.

The IDF and Shin Bet said this morning that they had commenced wide-scale operations in the northern West Bank last night and “won’t allow terror to become established in the area.”
