No place in Gaza is safe, says WHO representative
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleMahmoud Daher, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative in the Gaza Strip, says “no place” in the coastal enclave is safe from Israel Air Force shelling.
Daher says he has had to leave his house due to shelling, and is now staying in the Gaza headquarters of the UN Development Program (UNDP).
“No place is safe in the entire Gaza Strip,” he tells Channel 2.
He adds that while UN personnel in the territory have “memories from 2008 and 2012” of UN buildings being targeted, they feel “more comfortable and calm” staying in UN headquarters in Gaza rather than in their own homes.
“But the shelling can happen anywhere,” he says.
