Palestinian rioters clash with police in Jerusalem’s Shuafat Refugee Camp

Clashes break out at the entrance to Jerusalem’s Shuafat Refugee Camp between police and Palestinian rioters, some of whom are throwing rocks at the forces.

The violence comes shortly after hundreds of Palestinians marched in the refugee camp to honor a Hamas terrorist who shot and killed an Israeli and wounded four others in Jerusalem’s Old City this morning.

The gunman, Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, was a senior leader in Hamas’s network in the refugee camp. He was killed by police officers on the scene.

The neighborhood lies within the boundaries of the Jerusalem municipality, but beyond the security fence. Few public services are available there, and lawlessness abounds.

According to Palestinian reports, some of Abu Shkhaydam’s family members have been arrested. Large police forces entered the neighborhood to conduct searches before the Palestinian demonstrators marched to the terrorist’s home.
