Report: Hamas has mobilized 7,000 members of internal security force to ‘cleanse’ Gaza of ‘collaborators’

As part of Hamas’ efforts to reassert dominance over the war-torn Gaza Strip, the terror group has deployed some 7,000 members of its internal security forces to areas that the IDF has pulled back from under the terms of the ceasefire, the BBC reports.

Some members of Hamas’s internal security forces had been seen in footage released by Hamas-affiliated media yesterday, although only a handful were pictured, and it was not clear if they had been deployed beyond the area they were photographed in.

According to the BBC, Hamas mobilized its security forces via phone calls and texts, informing its operatives that they were required to “cleanse Gaza of outlaws and collaborators with Israel” and to report for duty within 24 hours.

The report says the terror group has also appointed five new governors across Gaza, all of them with experience in the terror group’s armed wing, including brigade commanders, rather than its political wing.

An unnamed Hamas official tells the BBC that the terror group “cannot leave Gaza at the mercy of thieves and militias backed by the Israeli occupation,” but declines to confirm whether the reports of the internal security forces being mobilized are correct.
