State Department approves $30 million for funding of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation
The US State Department has approved $30 million in funding for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the State Department says, calling on other countries to also support the group delivering aid in war-torn Gaza.
“This support is simply the latest iteration of President Trump’s and Secretary Rubio’s pursuit of peace in the region,” State Department deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott says.
The $30 million falls well below the $500 million that the US reportedly considered giving GHF earlier this month.
The group has touted being able to deliver over 40 million meals since its May 26 launch, but it has been marred by reports of near-daily shootings of Palestinians trekking long distances while crossing IDF lines to reach the small number of GHF distribution sites.
