Trump expected to offer Iran incentive to hold fire on Israel — report

Israeli officials communicating with Washington assess that US President Donald Trump may soon announce that he is offering Iran something in return for Tehran agreeing not to retaliate against Israel for its strike against Hezbollah in Beirut, Channel 12 reports.

The officials add that it is not yet clear what that concession or incentive would be, but describe it as the focus of intensive efforts currently underway by the Trump administration, as it seeks to sign an agreement with Iran in the coming hours.

Channel 12 later quotes reports from Iran indicating that the US was offering Iran’s World Cup soccer team regular visas that would allow them to stay in the US.

Currently the Iranian team, which is based in Mexico, need to enter and leave the US on the same day as their games.
