Police have arrested a man in connection with a suspected attempt to abduct a teenage girl last week in Pardes Hanna, the force said in a statement Monday.
The suspect, 30, is a resident of the town. According to Hebrew media reports, he has confessed to the crime and reenacted for investigators the moments when he tried to snatch a 16-year-old girl and force her into the trunk of his car.
Outlets published a short video clip of the reenactment.
The suspect has no criminal record of sex offenses, the Ynet website reported.
Police said they intend to ask for an extension of his custody.
Investigators have ruled out the incident being for nationalist motives related to terror.

The girl’s mother told Ynet of her relief at hearing that the suspect had been arrested. “We were very lucky that he didn’t manage to carry out his plan,” she said.
“This is what we fought for, that they catch him,” she said. “We fought for our daughter and for other girls.”
The woman, who was not named in the report, said she had not been given all of the details of the arrest.
Last week the girl’s father described to Ynet how his daughter had fought off her assailant until he dropped her on the ground and fled.
Police were alerted on July 3 that someone had tried to force the minor into the trunk of a car. At the time, the teen said the suspect grabbed her, lifted her in the air and tried to stuff her in his open trunk. She began to shout for help, alarming the suspect as passersby began to notice. He then fled the scene.
The Pardes Hanna-Karkur municipality announced that it was increasing police patrols in the town following the incident.
