Man shot and killed outside home in Kafr Qara in latest Arab community bloodshed
Omar Yahya, 25, is 39th casualty of violent crime in the sector in 2026, less than a year and a half after his brother was killed; woman also wounded, taken to hospital

A man was shot and killed outside his home in the city of Kafr Qara near Haifa on Sunday, as daily shootings continued to rock Arab society.
Police said the assailants shot at a man and a woman in the evening.
The man was identified by the Abraham Initiatives organization as Omar Yahya, 25.
The woman was taken to the hospital in moderate condition, while Yahya was declared dead at the scene.
Nearby, a car was found set alight, which appeared to have been used by the violent crime’s perpetrators, according to the Ynet news site.
Officers who arrived at the scene set up roadblocks in the area and were searching for the perpetrators as of around 8 p.m.
Police said later that they arrested four suspects. They were interrogated and detained, according to the police statement, which added that the police will request to extend their detention.
So far this year, Arab society has seen 39 deaths in violent circumstances, 11 of them since the start of February.
Yahya’s own brother was killed about a year and three months ago, also in Kafr Qara, according to Ynet.
The sharp rise in the already soaring homicide rate has spurred the Arab Isralei community to hold near-daily protests in recent weeks, including a recent massive rally in Tel Aviv a week ago, demanding police take action to rein in the violence.
