Eitan Broshi, a lawmaker from the Zionist Union faction, was forced to apologize to fellow party MK Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin for touching her behind during a field trip, taken by members, Israeli media reported Wednesday.
Nahmias-Verbin reported the incident at the time to party leader Avi Gabbay, who told Broshi that he must apologize.
According to the reports, witnesses present said that Broshi initially did not understand that his actions were problematic.
“Shortly after the incident I apologized — a gesture that was supposed to be friendly was in fact completely the opposite. As soon as I understood the mistake, I apologized to her from the bottom of my heart,” said Broshi.
Nahmias-Verbin accepted Broshi’s apology.

“Despite my distress, I accepted Broshi’s apology after some hesitation and I think he understood the seriousness of the act,” she said.
