A woman was arrested Saturday night for attempted murder after she allegedly poured boiling oil on her husband as he lay in bed in the southern Israel town of Arad.
The man was taken to hospital suffering from burns and was said to be in moderate condition.
Police arrived at the house after a neighbor heard the screams of the woman’s 11-year-old daughter, and preliminary questioning ascertained that the woman had poured the boiling oil on her husband.
Hebrew media quoted the woman as saying that she had spilled the oil by accident, but gave no details on the circumstances.
The 44-year-old suspect is due to appear at Beersheba Magistrate’s Court later on Sunday.

Police issued a statement on the incident, saying: “We view with severity any act of physical, mental, verbal and sexual violence within the family unit, and we will act using any powers in our possession.”
