Bedouin boy dies from rope wrapped around his neck

The Arad Police Department launched an investigation into the death of a 12-year-old Bedouin boy in an encampment near the southern Negev town of Arad on Sunday.

The boy died after he apparently choked on a rope that was tied too tightly around his neck as he played outside his family’s home, YNet reported.

MDA paramedics arrived on the scene and found the boy alive but in critical condition. He was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, where he died from the wounds sustained from the rope.

Police were reportedly investigating the possibility that the child’s death was not an accident. Police have already sought the testimony of the parents.

The incident follows a similar one in June 2009, when an 11-year-old boy from the Arab town of Sajour was found dead after choking due to a rope tied around his neck while he played outside his family’s home.
