Elad’s deputy mayor Israel Porush was shocked to discover a dead snake left in a box on the doorstep of his home Tuesday evening. The body of the two-meter-long snake was placed in a cardboard container resembling a pizza box by unknown individuals, and was later removed by the police.
Porush told reporters that his initial fear upon finding the unwelcome gift was that the reptile was alive and dangerous, but that after he determined it wasn’t, he put his mind to who might be behind the prank.
“I usually try to stand behind my words and deeds, but it’s impossible to please everybody. Apparently someone didn’t appreciate something I’ve done,” said Porush, who planned to lodge a complaint with the police.
Elad is a city in the center of Israel inhabited exclusively by ultra-Orthodox residents.
