An Eritrean woman in her 30s was found unconscious Wednesday morning with signs of violence on her body at an apartment in Petah Tikva. Magen David Adom paramedics who responded to the call attempted to resuscitate the woman, but pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police received a call around 2 a.m. about a suspected murder on Bar Kochba Street. On arriving at the scene, they found the woman unconscious on the floor of the apartment in a pool of blood. They arrested her husband and took him in for questioning.

The background of the incident was as yet unclear, but initial investigation found that the Eritrean couple had an argument, during which the man reportedly attacked his wife and struck her head with a bottle, Ynet reported.
