Some National Basketball Association players will be spending Shabbat in the holy city, at the invitation of local NBA player Omri Casspi.

Casspi, from Holon, invited the delegation to visit Israel, according to his local press office.

Two of the players, DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, are Casspi’s teammates on the Sacramento Kings, where he was first drafted in 2009.

The other visiting players are Chandler Parsons of the Dallas Mavericks; Tyreke Evans from the New Orleans Pelicans; the Detroit Pistons’ Caron Butler; Alan Anderson of the Washington Wizards; and Iman Shumpert, from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who has another Israeli in his life, coach David Blatt,

The group will be staying at Jerusalem’s historic King David Hotel from Friday afternoon through Sunday.
