IDF deploys Iron Dome to southern Israel
Missile defense batteries set up near Netivot, Sderot, after video released showing soldier shoot Palestinian

The IDF on Friday deployed Iron Dome batteries near the southern towns of Netivot and Sderot.
The anti-missile batteries should be able to protect the southern towns, just miles from the border of the Gaza Strip, from potential projectiles fired from the Palestinian enclave.
There were no specific instructions given to residents of the south, but the move came a day after Hamas said two of its members were killed in an attempted stabbing attack on Israel Defense Forces soldiers in Hebron. A soldier was filmed shooting one of the Palestinian attackers from point-blank range when the terrorist did not appear to pose an immediate threat.
Israel has been hit by sporadic rocket fire from the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the year, most recently on March 15. The attacks are often attributed to Salafist groups in the Gaza Strip opposed to Hamas. The IDF usually retaliates with airstrikes targeting Hamas, pointing out it is responsible for any hostilities against Israel from Gaza.
