Israeli boy dies after falling into Polish canal

A 3-year-old Israeli boy died Thursday after falling into a canal during a family trip to Poland.

He was pulled from the water and hospitalized on a respirator. Two days later he was pronounced dead.

None of the news reports indicated where in southeastern Poland the incident took place.

The Foreign Ministry was accompanying the boy’s parents and helping return his body to Israel for burial, Channel 2 reported.

Earlier this week a 6-year-old Israeli boy drowned in a hotel pool while on vacation with his family in Turkey.

The family visited the Turkish seaside city of Kemer, where the boy and his older brother, 10, went swimming in the hotel pool on Sunday.

Hotel guests tried to save the boy, as did paramedics who arrived at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
