Members of the IDF, Border Police and Israel Police arrested 15 wanted Palestinians in a series of operations across the West Bank overnight Tuesday.
Seven of those detained were arrested on suspicion of involvement in terror activities and violent rioting against Israeli civilians and security forces, the Hebrew-language Maariv website reported.
The arrests came hours after Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon warned that Palestinian terror groups were seeking to carry out attacks and said that “it may still happen.”
In recent days, security forces have been on high alert in the West Bank following the deaths of 18-month-old infant Ali Saad Dawabsha last month and his father Saad Dawabsha on Saturday morning. The two were killed in the West Bank town of Duma in a firebombing attack on the family’s home on July 31, apparently by Jewish extremists.
On Sunday an Israeli man was moderately wounded in a stabbing at a gas station on Route 443, along a section of the road that passes through the West Bank on the approach to Jerusalem. The stabbing came after last week a car-ramming attack in the West Bank left three Israeli soldiers wounded near the settlement of Shilo.
