Israeli-born Hollywood star Natalie Portman is tackling perhaps her most demanding role yet, transforming herself into style icon Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the upcoming feature film “Jackie.” But a newly released image from the film suggests the award-winning actress is more than up to the task.

The movie reportedly centers on the life of the newly widowed first lady in the days following her husband’s assassination during a November 1963 trip to Dallas.

Directed by Pablo Larrain, it also stars Peter Sarsgaard as Robert Kennedy, and is produced by Darren Aronofsky, Portman’s director for her Oscar-winning 2011 turn in Black Swan.

The photo, first obtained by Deadline, shows 34-year-old Portman sporting Kennedy’s trademark hairstyle, as well as an elegant red suit and a string of pearls that conform to the traditional image of the late fashionista. The image has definite echoes of a photograph of the first lady at the White House in 1961.

Jackie Kennedy famously married Greek shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis some five years after the president’s assassination. Onassis died in 1975 and Jackie in 1994.

“Jackie” is scheduled for release in 2017 and is currently filming in Paris, according to Deadline.
