Obama’s seder was scene of tantrum

The White House annual Passover seder was the scene of the internet’s latest trope of comedy, after an attendee’s daughter threw a tantrum that provided for one of the more amusing photos of the year.

The seder took place weeks ago, but the child’s uncle sparked the internet interest by posting a picture a few days ago.

Claudia Chaudhary was caught face-down in the Red Room alongside her father, Arun Chaudhary, President Barack Obama’s videographer during his 2008 presidential campaign.

“She’s a very nice girl and not a brat or anything. She was just having a moment,” her uncle, New York Times writer Benjamin Moser, told the Daily Mail Online.

After Obama hosted a seder on the campaign trail for staff in 2008, the tradition has shifted to the White House and become an annual tradition.

“They were somewhere in Pennsylvania and all the Jewish kids got together and had seder in the basement of some motel somewhere, and Senator Obama came down and joined them,” he said.

“And instead of saying ‘Next year in Jerusalem’ it was ‘Next year in the White House,’” Moser said.

He said his family has attended regularly.

At the Seder on April 3, guests dined on gefilte fish, chicken soup with matzoh balls, carrot soufflé, savory holiday brisket, seared salmon with roasted artichokes, roasted potatoes with garlic and onion, and — for dessert — macaroons.

“Like the Israelites who Moses led out of slavery long ago, it is up to us to never lose faith in the better day that lies ahead. In our own country, we can continue our march toward a more perfect union. Around the world, we can seek to extend the miracles of freedom and peace, prosperity and security, to more of God’s creation. And together, we can continue the hard but awesome work of tikkun olam, and do our part to repair the world,” Obama said at the dinner.

Claudia Moser is not the first kid to be photographed melting down in the White House. The son of a Secret Service member was captured faceplanted into the couch in the Oval Office in 2014.
