One dead, five wounded in traffic accidents early Friday

One man is dead and at least five are injured in serious traffic accidents early Friday.
The man, 23, was killed in a crash on Route 784 near the Galilee village of Shorashim at around 1 a.m. Magen David Adom rescue crews pronounced him dead at the scene after attempting to resuscitate him.
Three others involved in the accident, all men aged 19, 25 and 40, were evacuated in light to moderate condition to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.
Some two hours later, a pedestrian, 40, was hit by a vehicle on Route 40 southbound at the Bilu Junction, near the central Israeli city of Rehovot. He was seriously injured in the accident, and was evacuated to Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.
Police have launched investigations into both incidents.
