A Palestinian man has been shot and killed on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea.
The body of Salih Jahalin from the village of al-Khader, 5 kilometers (3 miles) west of Bethlehem, was found just off the Jordanian coast, according to the Ma’an news agency.
Security sources told Ma’an that he was apparently trying to enter Jordan when he was shot on Monday night.
Jahalin, a Fatah member, spent nine years in an Israeli prison for smuggling weapons during the Second Intifada by way of the Dead Sea.
He continued his smuggling activities after his release in December 2011, the report said.
His body is being held in Jordan, and authorities have not indicated when it will be delivered to the Palestinian Authority.
