Police recommend corruption trial for Land Authority head
Benzi Lieberman suspected of conflict of interest in real estate deals; police also urge prosecution of former MK Langental

Police on Thursday recommended that the state indict Israel Land Authority head Benzi Lieberman for corruption in the government body.
Police said they had amassed sufficient evidence against Lieberman to incriminate him on illicit real estate transactions.
They also recommended that former MK Nahum Langental be prosecuted for his involvement in the alleged infractions.
Lieberman is suspected of using his position to help secure deals for a real estate company in which he had previously been employed, and for which Langental serves as a board member.
In January, the Lahav 433 national fraud unit raided the offices of the ILA and questioned Lieberman as part of an investigation into irregularities, improper management, and conflicts of interest there. Langenthal was also questioned.
The investigation was launched by police over eight months ago after they received information from a source inside the ILA.
Lieberman is believed to have handled files at the ILA that were connected to land leasing for the company and other deals involving tens of millions of shekels.
Investigators noted that the case had no connection to another large corruption case, also linked to the ILA, involving dozens of public officials and senior members of the Yisrael Beytenu party, Channel 2 reported.
