An Israeli policeman shot and moderately injured a Palestinian driver near the West Bank settlement of Karnei Shomron on Thursday morning.
Initial reports from the scene said the man failed to stop at a checkpoint, and the officer, who feared that the man intended to run him over, fired in self-defense.
The Palestinian was treated by Magen David Adom medics who arrived on the scene.
The past few years have seen similar incidents, with Palestinians using cars, trucks and bulldozers as a makeshift weapon and deliberately hitting Israelis with the vehicles.
In December, police fired at an East Jerusalem taxi driver who attempted to hit a Border Police officer.
