Nearly a year after their two daughters were poisoned to death in an extermination accident, Shimon and Michal Gross of Jerusalem had a baby boy on Monday.
The girls, Avigail and Yael, aged 1 and 4, died last January shortly after an exterminator treated their family home in Jerusalem with a poisonous substance. The Gross’s two older boys were hospitalized for exposure to aluminum phosphide, a deadly toxin.
“There are no words to express the happiness and joy,” the father, Shimon, told the press at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center on Monday. “To arrive at the same place that we grieved [our] two girls Avigail and Yael, peace be upon them, [but] this time under joyous circumstances, is a celebration that’s hard to express in words.”

“On the other hand, overwhelming thoughts and feelings arise that we experienced almost a year ago at this exact spot,” he said.
Yaakov Gross, the grandfather to the newborn, told the Walla news site, “We hope that the family as a whole is recovering. We are very happy, and the parents are also happy and contented.”
