Vandals slash tires in Jerusalem's Abu Tor

At least 12 Jewish-owned cars targeted

In what police suspect was a politically motivated act of vandalism, unknown perpetrators overnight Wednesday punctured the tires of 12 cars belonging to Jewish residents of the mixed Arab-Jewish Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Tor.

Police opened an investigation into the incidents, which came a few hours after an ultra-Orthodox man was stabbed outside the Old City’s Damascus Gate.

The victim was taken to the hospital in moderate condition, and two suspects were arrested.

Abu Tor sits astride the pre-1967 line. Mixed neighborhoods in Jerusalem have been the site of various attacks in recent years, including several incidences of Jewish “price-tag” vandals puncturing tires of Arab-owned cars.
