An eight-year-old girl was killed after a car hit her in the central city of Beit Shemesh on Thursday.
Medics had taken the girl — identified as Nehama Chaya Walles — to the Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem in critical condition after she was struck by the car.
“The girl was lying on the road unconscious and with a severe head injury after being hit by a vehicle,” a Magen David Adom ambulance service medic said.
Medical staff at the Jerusalem hospital pronounced the girl’s death shortly after she was admitted.
Police said officers were at the scene investigating the cause of the incident.

The deadly incident occurred in the city’s ultra-Orthodox Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet neighborhood.
Since the beginning of the year, 318 people have been killed on the country’s roads, according to the Road Safety Authority.
