86-year-old woman dies in house fire in northern Israel
Police investigating cause of blaze in Or Akiva apartment building; elderly resident found unconscious, likely died of smoke inhalation

An 86-year-old woman died on Thursday night after a fire broke out in her apartment building in the northern city of Or Akiva.
The woman likely lost consciousness and died of smoke inhalation, according to reports.
Firefighters located the woman during rescue efforts to retrieve residents trapped in the building. Attempts by paramedics to revive her were unsuccessful.
Police were investigating the cause of the fire.
The woman was not identified by emergency services or police.
Last month, a two-year-old boy died in a house fire in East Jerusalem’s Shuafat Refugee Camp.
