Family members suspected in murder of 22-year-old Bedouin woman

The family members of a 22-year-old Bedouin woman were detained by police Tuesday after she was fatally shot in the early morning hours.
In a statement, police said officers stopped a car that was driving erratically and at high speed through Beersheba’s city center. In the back seat they found a woman who had been shot.
Paramedics rushed her to Soroka Medical Center where she died of her wounds. A paramedic who treated the victim said she had been lying unconscious with wounds to her upper body.
The victim was from the Bedouin town of Segev Shalom, southeast of Beersheba.
The people in the vehicle were detained by police for questioning on suspicion of murder.
Since the beginning of 2018, 11 women have been murdered by close family members, according to the Haaretz daily. Though they are just a fifth of the population, Arabs constitute 45% of such cases.
