Police arrested the father of a well-known children’s singer on Monday on suspicion of sexually harassing one of his daughter’s underage fans.
The father, a 48-year-old resident of central Israel, was arrested following a weeks-long undercover investigation conducted under strict gag order. Police announced the arrest on Tuesday, but the name of the suspect remains under wraps.
The probe began when the parents of a 13-year-old fan of the singer submitted a complaint to police after seeing a sexually explicit conversation between the suspect and the girl on the WhatsApp messaging application, Hadashot TV news reported.
The television network said police believe the suspect likely committed sexual offenses against minors.
The singer’s father was responsible for managing WhatsApp groups for his daughter’s admirers.

The suspect will appear at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a hearing on extending his remand.
