Israeli defense companies put products on show in Paris

Israel’s Defense Ministry will present a wide array of defense companies and their technologies at Israel’s National Pavilion at the 2016 Eurosatory international defense and security exhibition that will be held this week in Paris.

The exhibition is considered one of the largest and most important in the world, with over 1,500 companies from 58 countries exhibiting their latest products to over 55,500 visitors from over 140 nations, SIBAT, the International Defense Cooperation Directorate at Israel’s Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Twenty-nine Israeli companies will be displaying their technologies including in the fields of robotics, unmanned aircraft systems, armored vehicles, protection equipment for armed forces, electro-optical devices.

“In recent years, in light of the unending series of terror attacks around the world that have claimed thousands of lives and wounded tens of thousands, there has been a significant change in approach regarding defense and homeland security,” SIBAT Director Michel Ben Baruch said in the statement. “This has resulted in a rapidly increasing demand for sophisticated solutions for homeland security, force protection and handling terror threats — including real-time intelligence systems, automated systems for protection of large areas, defense systems, cybersecurity and more.”

Israel, which has faced security threats since its establishment, is a “unique laboratory for the development of solutions for defense and security that have proven themselves in the field,” he said.

Israeli companies exhibiting at the pavilion include Elbit Systems Ltd., Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), IMI Systems, Israel Weapons Industries (IWI), and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
