An Israeli man got a jail sentence of 10-25 years on Monday for the 2004 rape of a teenage girl in Pennsylvania.
Moshe Journo, 56, was on the run for 15 years after he was released on bond following his initial arrest, until he was extradited back to the United States from Israel in 2019.
Last month, Journo was found guilty of raping the then-15-year-old at a tanning parlor in Dormont in 2004.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the girl had been shopping at a store Journo owned when he offered to let her use the tanning parlor next door.
When the girl was lying naked on the tanning bed, Journo entered the room and raped her, telling her not to tell anyone what had happened.
The girl immediately told her mother about the attack, and her parents reported the assault to the police.
After he was arrested and released on bond, Journo fled the country. He was arrested by Israeli police in 2017 and appealed his pending extradition. In 2019, FBI agents and Allegheny County sheriff’s officers traveled to Israel to bring him back to the US.
