Israeli social media star Idan Ohayon, who rose to fame in recent years by creating content that mocked his own obesity, passed away this week at the age of 28.

Ohayon was most popular on the TikTok short-form video hosting service where he had accumulated nearly 145,000 followers. Most of his videos on the platform featured him eating or joking about his weight.

He also had over 52,000 followers on Instagram and nearly 12,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel.

Ohayon was taken to Barzilai Medical Center earlier this week after not feeling well for several days. Doctors were forced to declare his death overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. His family said the cause was health-related, without elaborating further.

While Ohayon has long poked fun at his size, he told Hebrew media in the past that he had tried many different diets but never succeeded in keeping the weight off.

He was buried on Wednesday in Kiryat Gat where he grew up and lived until his passing.

Earlier this year, Ohayon was selected to compete in a documentary-reality show called “The Creatoks” where Israeli influencers compete against one another to be named the country’s best content creator.

Ohayon is survived by his mother, brother and sister.
