An extreme right-wing activist imprisoned for illegal political activity sent threatening letters to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, police said Thursday morning.

“How are you releasing murderous terrorists?” the suspect wrote in a letter to Netanyahu, referring to the government’s decision to release prisoners as a goodwill gesture toward the Palestinian Authority earlier this month. “We’ll hurt you and the government like [assassinated prime minister Yitzhak] Rabin was hurt,” he threatened.

According to the announcement, policemen who entered the prison to arrest the man and take him for questioning found two makeshift blades on his person.

While the identity of the suspect — held in a facility in the center of the country — was not released by the authorities, Ynet reported he was 22 years old.
