Army suspends Druze officer over Facebook post criticizing nation-state law
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Israel Defense Forces hands down a 14-day suspension to Druze officer Amir Jamal, who published a Facebook post yesterday denouncing the recently passed nation-state law and calling on members of the minority community to leave the army over the legislation.
“His commanders made it clear to him that he was expected to refrain from publishing the post, which identified himself as an officer in the IDF,” the army says. “There is no place in the IDF for political discourse of any kind.”
