As Netanyahu leaves falafel shop, supporter cries out ‘Death to leftists!’

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited a falafel shop in Ramle earlier, asking owners if they had received government assistance for their business and if customers were returning.

As he walked away backers cried out “Bibi we love you,” and other supportive comments, while one shouted out “Bibi, death to all leftists! Leftists are bastards, Bibi, death to the left!”

Netanyahu has been accused by rivals and critics of fomenting divisions and hatred between Israel’s political camps. There are now several headlines in Hebrew media saying Netanyahu failed to respond to those comments or condemn them — though we will note that the prime minister was already some 20 meters away as the inflammatory comments were made, and may very well not have heard them.
