The Tel Aviv District Court rejects a request by the State Attorney’s Office to immediately bar Jonatan Urich from the Prime Minister’s Office after he was indicted today on a charge of transmitting classified information with the intent to harm state security.
Urich, a senior media adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was indicted for his alleged role in the Bild leaked documents scandal, and the State Attorney’s Office requested a series of restrictive conditions against him as a result.
Judge Ala Masarwa decides that the request for restrictive conditions will be dealt with in a court hearing on July 5, Kan News reports.
Urich was indicted over his alleged role in the leak of a classified document from IDF military intelligence to Germany’s Bild newspaper in September 2024 as part of an effort to buttress Netanyahu’s claim that it was Hamas, not the prime minister, that was holding up a deal for the release of the hostages held by the terror group in Gaza.
