The Jerusalem District Court agrees to cancel the three hearings that had been scheduled for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s testimony in his corruption trial, acceding to Netanyahu’s request.
The court asks, however, for an update from Netanyahu’s lawyer Amit Hadad regarding the possibility of having the prime minister testify next week.
Hearings in Netanyahu’s trial, along with many other criminal proceedings, were suspended during the war with Iran as the courts were put on an emergency footing.
Following the ceasefire that went into effect last week, Netanyahu requested a further two-week delay to the resumption of his testimony due to the security and diplomatic situation in the wake of the conflict.
The State Attorney’s Office agreed to cancel the prime minister’s testimony this week, but requested that requests for delays next week be re-submitted and evaluated.
The court adopts this position, and tells Hadad to file an update as to whether Netanyahu will be able to testify next week by Thursday.
