Druze leader meets with IDF head, calls on soldiers to keep politics out of army

After meeting with IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Muafak Tarif releases a statement addressing members of his community currently completing their compulsory army service, amid protests from Druze soldiers over the recently passed nation-state law.

“Trust us, we will fight for you. We have no bone to pick with the army – you are soldiers and loyal commanders, and I trust you to leave yourselves and the IDF out of the public debate,” says Tarif.
