A construction worker has died after four-story scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Tel Aviv, police and paramedics say. Three others were hurt in the collapse — one in moderate condition and two others with mild injuries.
Police arrested the site manager and took him in for interrogation by a special police division that focuses on construction accidents.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the scaffolding surrounding a building under renovation had given way. The three injured workers were found amid the rubble, fully conscious, and were transported to the hospital.
“We were told that one person was still missing under the rubble. Rescue operations continued together with the firefighters and Home Front Command, and eventually, a man around 30 years old was located,” says a Magen David Adom medic.
The man had no pulse and was not breathing, and medics declared him dead at the scene.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
