Galilee ‘Loaves’ church arsonist appeals sentence to Supreme Court

A Jewish extremist convicted of carrying out a July 2015 arson attack at the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes in northern Israel is appealing his four-year jail sentence for the hate crime.

In December, the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court sentenced Yinon Reuveni to four years in jail, plus two years’ probation, and ordered the 22-year-old to pay NIS 50,000 ($14,00) in compensation to the church.

Reuveni’s lawyer tells the Supreme Court today that the court “ignored police failures and a serious of question marks in the case.”
