Health Ministry rules out suspected case of Ebola in Israel

Reporter at The Times of Israel

The Health Ministry announces that an individual suspected of having contracted Ebola after returning from the Democratic Republic of the Congo does not have the disease, according to laboratory tests.

The tests were carried out in accordance with professional protocols and accepted international guidelines for dealing with high-risk infectious diseases.

The ministry emphasizes that, as of now, no confirmed case of Ebola has been diagnosed in Israel.

Ebola is not transmitted through the air; infection occurs through direct contact with a symptomatic patient or with blood, bodily fluids, or secretions.

The ministry reiterates its call to the public to avoid non-essential travel to areas with active Ebola transmission. Travelers returning from these regions who develop a fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days of their return are asked to stay home, avoid contact with others, and call the hotline at *5400.
