Hundreds of mourners attend the funeral of Staff Sgt. Omer Tabib, 21, in the military cemetery in his hometown of Elyakim.

Regional Cooperation Minister Ofir Akunis is attending the funeral as the government’s representative.

Tabib was killed and two other soldiers were wounded, along with an Israeli civilian, after Hamas operatives fired an anti-tank guided missile at their jeep just north of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

He was set to be released from the army next month.
