Israeli rescue groups prepare to help Venezuelan authorities amid unfolding quake disaster

As thousands are potentially missing following powerful earthquakes in Venezuela, Israel’s ZAKA emergency response organization says its teams in the United States, Mexico and Israel are making preparations for possibly being sent to help local authorities rescue people from the rubble.

ZAKA says in a statement that as of now, it hasn’t received information of casualties among the country’s small Jewish community, but it is in contact with local community leaders and other officials.

Fellow rescue organization IsraAid says it is “urgently responding” to the unfolding disaster, promising more updates as the situation develops.
