Lights on in Bedouin school — after 40 years
An elementary school in the recognized Bedouin village of al-Sayyid is now connected to the national electricity grid, after more than four decades and multiple High Court petitions, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports.
The school has been using an unreliable generator that led to many power cuts and missed school days, Haaretz says.
Four more schools are due to be connected to the grid in the coming weeks.
