Obama slams Huckabee’s ‘oven’ comment
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleUS President Barack Obama criticizes a comment by Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee that the Iranian nuclear deal is akin to “marching the Israelis to the door of the oven.”
Obama, who is in Addis Ababa, says the remark is part of a pattern of attacks by GOP presidential candidates that would be “considered ridiculous if it weren’t so sad.” Such issues as the Iran nuclear deal deserve serious debate, not outlandish statements, he says. “It doesn’t help inform the American people,” Obama says.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz calls Huckabee’s statement “grossly irresponsible” and demands that he apologize.
