Dozens of protesters are blocking Route 1 and Route 6, two major highways in central Israel, near Daniel Interchange, where the two roads meet.
The blockages are part of a nationwide day of protest aimed at pressuring the government into negotiating a deal to release the 50 Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
The highways between Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and other major cities are blocked to traffic in both directions at the moment, Haaretz reports, with protesters burning tires at three different spots on the roads.
On Route 6, demonstrators unfurl a massive banner on the road that reads: “Ending the war, bringing everyone home.”
Protests on behalf of the hostages are taking place throughout the day and, earlier, groups of protesters blocked major roads.
Later tonight, thousands are expected to convene outside Tel Aviv’s Savidor train station and march from there to Hostages Square, calling for an agreement to return all Hamas-held hostages and end the war in Gaza.
