The US Embassy in Jerusalem says it is “heartbroken” by the killing of one of its employees Jacob Toukhy.

The Arab resident of Jaffa was shot by an off-duty border police officer amid an apparent traffic dispute that escalated to violence.

“To Jacob’s family, we and and the US Agency for International Development (which directly employed Toukhy) send our deepest condolences; we mourn alongside you. Jacob was a valued member of our embassy community for over two decades.”
